In 1998, three of my friends at the Michigan Renaissance Festival (Jeff, Stefan, and Collin) had an improv show that they performed every afternoon at the Wishing Well. Well, one weekend Collin couldn't make it because he was out of town or something and the other two guys were trying to figure out what to do for their show. They knew I was really into improv so they approached me and asked if I'd like to help them out. I said sure and while we were brainstorming for ideas, somebody mentioned "The Oracle" as an improv game. It's basically "One Word At A Time" (where the actors can only speak one word at a time) with the added gimmick that we were an all wise, all knowing oracle that could answer any question. So, Jeff, Stefan, and I arranged ourselves by the wishing well, draping a cloak around us to appear like a three headed monstrosity. We proceeded to answer questions speaking only one word from each head at a time for the next half an hour. The Oracle was so successful that when Collin returned the next weekend, we always followed the improv show with a performance from the Oracle. One of the best stories about the Oracle is when somebody asked us the ingredients of Spam. Well, it just so happened that Stefan actually knew what the ingredients were, though Jeff and I weren't aware of the fact. And, it just so happend that we went around the heads just right and answered the question as follows, "Spam, contains, ingredient, and, also, ingredient, and, also, ingredient, and, also, ingredient ..." (where ingredient was replaced with an actually ingredient from Spam) and so forth until we named them all. Well, the audience was certainly impressed and frankly, I don't think we could've pulled that off if it was scripted. I love improv. Oh, by the way, from left to right on the pictures, that's Collin standing there hawking for us; Jeff is the blond, bearded, right head; Stefan is the masked, middle head; and that's me as the left head with a goofy look on my face (in both photos).
